Automatic Transfer Switches Reduce The Risk of Equipment Damage
ByAutomatic transfer switches are designed for an assortment of standby power applications for serious as well as normal power loads. During an outage, automatic transfer switches are applied to protect the power. In other words, automatic transfer switches maintain constant monitoring of voltage levels on the electrical circuit. If there is any type of voltage problem that surpasses the fixed acceptable levels, then these switches act to avert any damage by switching off the power. Automatic transfer switches, also known as ATS, monitor the power that keeps your electronic appliances running. These are the switches that not only monitor the normal power source, but also monitor the emergency power sources and decrease the risk of any kind of equipment damage.
In the event of normal power disturbance, these switches automatically transfer the load circuits to the emergency power source, thus normal power sources has been reinstated and the procedure is automatically preserved. Apart from this, automatic transfer switches also keep an eye on the circuit for power surges, brownouts, spikes and voltage drops. An automatic transfer switch starts the process of emergency power supply if any problem is noticed. Apart from this, during the start-up process, these switches also monitor the main power supply and the emergency power supply.
Automatic transfer switches cover applications ranging from 200 amperes to more than 5000 amperes. Main function of ATS is that if there is a break or disturbance in the power, it will automatically switch the power off from the main power line and in the same time switch power from a generator or other sources. One of the interesting facts about ATS is that when these switches find that power has been restored through the main line, they switch off the generator and back over the main power.
Automatic transfer switches automatically shut the power down from the main line before it switches on the generator or any other source. It is a fact that manual switches usually have a safety feature in place, but the automatic transfer switches are more perfect and safe. If you are going to install automatic transfer switches, you must also keep in mind that the utility lines should be checked and proved safe even after installation.
