Beware of website airline tickets. They are very hard to change after you have paid. If you must go by air, have a travel agent do it for you. They are worth the cost. Get a regular travel agent if you do not have one. They get to know your needs and they have all the contacts; can save you a lot of time and fuss.

See cathedrals in Europe, and the great palaces and art. It matters little where you go. Roman ruins, great gardens, the astoundingly beautiful Italian countryside.

Lucky you. Do not rush or try to see and do everything. Take your time. You can always go back.

http://www.ryanair.com – I used this all of the time when I lived there in 2004. If you buy tickets at least a few months in advance, they can be as cheap as 1 Euro (plus taxes). They fly out of lesser known airports that are usually a bit inconvenient, but if you’re going far then it can be a very effective method of travel. I do agree with the first entry though, travel by train is very interesting and somewhat more enjoyable. Have fun!
