Brown Betty Teapots are reputed to make the best tea in the world. The concept dates back to the 17th century. The shape of the Brown Betty Teapot causes the tea leaves to be gently swirled around when boiling water is added. They are made of red terra-cotta clay found only in Stoke-On-Trent in Straffordshire, England. Their special production method gives the pots and even thickness and smooth finish inside and out. They are finished with a Rockingham brown glaze. Brown Bettys are top rack dishwasher safe, but are not intended for use in a microwave or on a stove top. Since they are handmade, some variations or “imperfections” are normal.
