gas-pump.jpgIf you are like me, I can not believe how much money I spend on gas each and every month. Making trips to the grocery, the mall, school, church, friends, eating out, and the list goes on.

Here are a couple of money saving tips to help reduce the amount of gas you use and keep down the price of the gas at the pump.

  • Keep your engine tuned and your tires inflated to their proper pressure.
  • Pump the gas yourself. Full service can cost as much a $.50 more per gallon.
  • Use the lowest-octane called for in your owner’s manual. The lower the octane level in the gas the cheaper the price per gallon.
  • Compare prices at different local gas stations in your area.

See GasPriceWatch and GasBuddy for local gas price comparisons online.

If you plan to take a trip and you are going to be driving, I found a helpful tool to estimate the cost of gas on your trip. See AAA Fuel Cost Calculator
