Two Simple Ways To Make Your Job Search Easier

By Mommy

If you’re spending hours searching all the usual job boards to look for new open positions, you’re probably frustrated and tired!  Additionally, you’re not seeing all the jobs out there if you simply use the job boards, because companies have to pay to post their positions.  Companies don’t pay anything to list their openings on their own corporate websites.  But to search each website of your target companies will take even more of your valuable time!

There IS an easier way to get ALL current  open job postings without the hassle of the job boards.  This will minimize your search time and maximize your time to make the connections with your target companies.

Here are two resources to consider:

  1. Indeed – This website searches the job boards AND the openings listed on company websites that may not be listed on the job boards.  You can do a simple search with a key word and zip code or a more advanced search.  The one downfall of Indeed, is that you will see duplicate postings if the company has posted the position on the job boards as well as their own website.  But the positive is that the service is FREE!
  2. Hound – On Hound you get ONLY the jobs posted on company websites.  This is good because usually the company will automatically post their positions on their company website, but not necessarily on the job boards.  The positive is that you don’t get duplicate postings and the search is more focused.  The only negative is that the service has a monthly fee associated with it.  However, you can try it for free for 7 days to see if you want to purchase a monthly subscription.

Consider setting up job alerts or RSS Feeds which automatically send you new jobs fitting your parameters.  This will really make your job search efficient.

Don’t waste valuable networking time on endless searches of the job boards.  Utilize Indeed or Hound to make your job search easier.  It’s simple and it works!
